Trinity ISD Board of Trustees approved its 2024-2025 school year budget and tax rate. The
board has lowered the tax rate for the fifth year in a row.
The tax rate was lowered by 3 cents from last year to 0.8866 per $100 valuation, down from last year’s rate of .9135. Maintenance and Operations Budget will be $15,066,844, an increase of $600,000. The increase was necessary because federal ESSER funds are no longer available. The budget for food service is $1,036,191. The budget for debt service is $835,663.
As was anticipated, the district was prepared for the loss of ESSER funds. The budget does contain funds for a new ag truck, an additional Community in Schools person for Lansberry Elementary School, and an additional $41,000 for liability insurance costs.
In other business, the board of trustees also:
*approved 4-H as an extra-curricular activity to not cost students an unexcused absence.
*approved the renewal of contract with school lawyers Walsh Gallegos.
*nominated Board President Kevin Searcy and Vice-President Monty Huffman as delegates for the Texas Association of School Boards Convention 2024.
